I don’t know about Ontario county, but just call the county office and ask them. I find all my PPO workers very nice and friendly. They really do want to help and your county is much more rural that mine.

I would think it depends more on your FFL. I've seen some that will do an ar pistol, and some who don't.
The permit office itself in Erie county don't ask about anything. All they want is the FFL receipt with the required information. I've had a couple on my permit

I know for a fact that Erie county, Niagara county and Monroe county will both do AR15 pistols and AR10 pistols. My buddy has both an AR15 and AR10 pistol, (he has resided in Erie,Monroe and Niagara county) and I have an AR15 pistol (in Erie county with almost every possible caliber for it listed on my card)

I know Putnam will but it has to be neutered besides pinned. Duchess just has to be pinned and can have whatever features it cane with.

Like everything pistol permit related in NY, answers will vary from county to county.
I had one on my permit (Schulyer) until I just took it off recently. When I added it I handed the clerk the form and receipt, told her this is an AR pistol. She handed me back a new permit with it on it. Caliber listed as Multi and didn’t care about barrel length.

I just have an "other" stripped receiver that I was considering turning into one, so no FFL should be necessary. Thanks for the info though!

I am 3 minutes from the Livingston border. I wish I was there more times than not. Stupid job requirements. My county is getting pretty liberal. If Monroe let's it fly though, then ontario should.
