Ar15 thread removal question

Hey guys,
I do apologize if this has been covered already.
My question is, if I use a dremel to grind the threads on my barrel, and then file and sand it smooth, will this compromise the integrity of the barrel/accuracy of the gun?
If I'm good to go, is there a way to take my thread protector and attach it over the end? What would be the best way to permanently attach it to the now filed barrel? Thanks in advance.
(For reference my barrel is a .300aac blk 16" 1.8 barrel pistol length gas system)

Most people do not go that far to eliminate threads.

There is no official legal guidance, but the vast majority of people believe that a cap threaded on and permanently attached is enough. Some say high temp solder is necessary, but most think epoxy is sufficient.

If you do go as far as removing the threads, I would just epoxy a cap over the stub if you want something cosmetic.

How will epoxy hold up against the heat after firing lets say 50-100 rnds? Also would removing the threads cause any issue with the barrel other then cosmetic?

Depends on the epoxy. But many will take any temperature you are likely to manage with NY's 10 round mags and semi auto only.

As for grinding the threads off with a dremel, I wouldn't do that on a high quality match barrel, but I doubt it will matter on most.

Plenty of people have used JB weld, I haven't heard of any problems.

I've used both silver solder and red loctite to hold on muzzle caps. Neither has shown signs of coming loose.

I agree and equate this to a fixed mag. No one welds their mags in place.

I wouldn't grind the threads... Just use Red Locktite or Solder. It ain't coming off without EXTENSIVE heat which probably WOULD damage the heat treat on the barrel. The argument being who is going to destroy a barrel to remove a threaded cap.

Red loctite has been my choice. Personal opinion, it shows intent to make your barrel legal.

Intent really doesn't mean anything... It's results that matter... I "INTENDED" to knock up my wife... Didn't work...

Well I jb welded the thread and screwed it on and wiped it clean. Nothing short of a blow torch or cutting the tip off will remove it now.
I got a nice cap on there that is flush with the barrel so won't have issues removing anything later down the line. thanks everyone for the advice.
