A great deal of truth here. Which is inconvenient for Politicians. Which means we'll read it, other people on other gun forums will read it, but Politicians will ignore it, and "studies" by activist groups will bury it. Which brings us right back around to the fact that this is the problem to begin with. These fucks know exactly what they're doing, and they've been doing it for a VERY long time and have gotten really good at it. Frustrating to say the least.

Asking whether "freedom" is a net benefit to society or not is a completely missing the point.

Freedom is *the purpose* of the society, it's not a benefit, it's the primary goal.

You might as well ask if survival is a benefit of breathing.

The founders, well some, had great concerns codifying ANY Right... And their concerns were well founded now that we see that the progression of Govt intrusion into daily lives is as big an issue today, as it was then.

We the People, do not need our Freedoms defined by Govt Regulations... We have a set of laws, and a Societal Compact that gives the Government powers from the People to enforce those laws. But those Powers should NEVER extend or breech compromising God Given Rights, the Rights of Man, to become a subset of allowances permissable by the Govt, if you ask nicely, or are from a favored class of citizenry.

Rights are Rights!

Laws are Laws!

But they're two separate and distinct differences, and One may not Infringe upon the other... It may not be absolute, but the whimsical indifference the Govt exhibits towards some of those Rights, clearly display the amazing foresight our founders actually had. They has SEEN this all before, and recognized the limits of the human condition, and how Power Corrupts... Simple!

So put the one check in place, to keep it balanced... "Shall Not Be Infringed"

And then there's nothing to worry about! Well kinda, lol

The question is invalid, as without guns there would be no Republic, whatsoever, and we would be ruled by a Monarchy................you would all be enslaved peasants and there would be no wonder what society would be like without Civilian owned firearms.....we already cannot own "firearms" in NYS.
