Stop thinking that we have to give anything up, we need to be the aggressors here and push a pro-firearms agenda.
Start by explaining that it was the invention of firearms in the hands of individuals that overthrew the feudal system and human bondage. This led to the enlightenment and renaissance and everything that is modern, otherwise we'd still be in the dark ages.
Those in power had paid enforcers - knights in armor - with powerful horses, swords, and weaponry designed to kill peasants who didn't pay their taxes or obey the king. They ruled for thousands of years and it was only when a tiny 100-pound farmer could stand up and shoot down a 200-pound knight that people began to have anything close to human rights. Before that we were no better than slaves.
Individual ownership of weapons is what saves lives and promotes liberty, whether you were a pioneering family in the 1700s or fighting the Communists from taking over your country in the 1950s. It's no different today when people armed with firearms are protecting their families in neighborhoods that police are afraid to enter.
Why would you deny a battered woman the ability to defend herself and her children from an angry abusive man?
Why would you want a small business owner to have to carry night deposits to the bank unarmed in a crime ridden city like Detroit or Chicago?
Why would you want a rural farm family near the drug smuggling border, where police response time is measured in hours, to be subject to gun restrictions designed thousands of miles away?
If just a few teachers or administrators had guns then the tragedies of Columbine and Sandy Hook could have been entirely avoided or kept to a minimum.
And so on. We have rock solid unassailable arguments and we only need to use them.
I could care less about stupid Bump Stocks but talk of compromising over a freaking piece of plastic is stupid.
Double Down!!!
