Unlike many newer gun systems in common use with the military, armorers must headspace M2s after installing a new barrel.

Armorers are the one who set headspace and timing, who knew? Anyone that has ever mounted one of these on top of a vehicle knows you set it minus the barrel and then install the barrel. Little easier than lugging close to 90 lbs.
I'm sure the new quick change A1 guns are delightful, but with a combat barrel change its two clicks out and run it, no gauge necessary...15 second change.
