Belted magnums are a few years behind me now and the magnum handguns get loaded to a more moderate level, still get my shooting time in and deal with less pain later.
One of my friends has pigeons, years Go he used 5 gallon buckets to haul the bird dropping when he cleaned his pigeon loft. When he got older he cut back to three gallon buckets, recently he cut Bach to one gallon paint cans because of arthritis.
I know where I am in life my wrist can't handle to many cylinders of high test 357 magnum or high test 44 magnum.
The last time I shot S&W 29 with full loads my hand hurt for a week, that's when I decided that it was time to down grade. Good thing the 9 mm is back in style. I have a 348 and a 45-70 that do the same thing to my shoulder. I'm going to play with some loads to see if I can make them more manageable. The 348 is a browning high grade with a steel butt plate. I would have to cut the stock to add a rubber one but I think that would kill the value of the rifle. Struggling with that decision.
