ASC mag problem

I’m having a problem with the follower on my ASC .308 5rd mag getting stuck in the down position. It feels fine as I load. The follower slides down easily and evenly. Once it is down, it sometimes comes up after the first round, but that’s it.

I tried taking it apart and reversing the spring thinking maybe it was installed incorrectly, but that didn’t change anything. I can’t get the follower out as the sides are crimped to limit the capacity. I’ve been pushing it up and down hoping that it just needs to wear a little (tedious as hell).

Any ideas?

Yeah I was hoping to get the follower out to file it down a little bit. Can’t get it out unless I drill out the indents. At that point it would be pointless because I need it to be 5rds for hunting.

If a tube that you could take out is legal to restrict a tube mag, could you maby put some legos or something in the bottom of the mag as a spacer?

I could put something else in there after but I prefer to keep the mag as is since I’m pretty sure it’s the follower that’s the problem.

My friend just suggested roughing up the insides with sandpaper so they will in turn wear the follower quicker.

What about spraying something very slippery inside, like some Teflon dry lube?

Had a problem where the mag spring was riding along the wall of the mag. Pair of pliers, and a little heat if it's REALLY stubborn, should solve that.

My friend suggested lubing it. I guess a dry lube may work. Weary of using oil for obvious reasons.

I wonder if stretching the spring a bit would help ?

That's a decent suggestion as well. I'm going to try that.
