Anyone who takes this at face value is fooling themselves. This is not about tracking your guns. This isn't even about tracking YOU, though that is a pleasant side benefit for these Tyrants.

This is about making the cost of buying a gun too high for "normal people". Whether through actual cost or the hoops you have to jump through to obtain one.

Burden of the law abiding. I am beginning to wonder if people have drank too much of the law abiding, model citizen koolaid.

Because GPS is infallible... wow the staggering ignorance of these people. I drive for a living, and perhaps use GPS more than the next person, and I've seen some wicked glitches. A few years back, in Vermont, had my dispatcher call me up asking where on earth I was. Apparently the GPS in the truck was reporting that I was some miles offshore in the Atlantic, instead of traveling I-91 southbound. Apparently this made all kinds of alarms go off back at the office.

Anyone else ever spoof GPS by retransmitting altered NMEA streams on one of the GPS radio frequencies and overwhelming the signal coming from the satellite?

I tried an experiment with a friend. We wrapped two layers of tin foil around his phone which doesn't get the strongest signal where I live, do to his provider. I called it ......it rang.

Years ago lead was removed out of paint for the safety of the children, yet it was left in gasoline for another decade so we could all breath it.
Call me a conspirator ........ IDGAF. They have had a plan for quite some time. They knew 4G-5G was coming. We all know they do not give a half a fuck for the children. BTW, as far as I am aware, we are the only country that has banned lead paint.

Wow they are really narrow minded....should have required each gun to have a video device to record the user's actions. The GPS could then upload real time images to a new law enforcement agency to screen for wrongdoing....Seems common sense to me.

That’s a little more complicated. Some agencies/positions allow the use of government vehicles for private business due to the nature of the person involved. Like if they’re on 24hr call for example. Most do not allow it though.

The technology on the free market isn’t there yet. The battery of a size to put in the gun wouldn’t last. The accuracy of cell phone tracking to 9/11 isn’t as great as they would have one believe.
We had a hard enough time with LoJack and GPS on cars.
I actually investigated it to put on my own guns ( or at least the portable gun lockers I would use). I would want to be able to track and find the guy who stole it.
Again, the open market tracking isn’t good enough yet.

It wouldn't be the first time they tried to mandate non existent technology.

Their attitude would be "oh, until you figure out how to make it work, I guess no new guns. Oh well"

And if someone *did* manage to make it work, suddenly they would add some impossible accuracy standard or something.

Their goal is not to reduce crime, but to reduce gun ownership.

I have owned every dog tracking system from the old beep collars where you had headphones and had to point the antenna and listen for the signal and I've owned all 3 gps dog tracking systems. There is no battery available that would fit in any gun that will track for very long in a GPS unit. Even if there was no battery there is absolutely no extra room in a pistol for anything. To put together a small enough device that could handle the abuse.....and not just be removed buy the criminal who steals it. That's less possible than microstamping.
