Assembly Democrats are proposing to redirect $250 million of financial settlement money earmarked in Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s budget.
The proposal still plans on using nearly $1.2 billion of the settlement money in the coming fiscal year, but the financial plan from the Assembly reveals they have other ideas about the $250 million committed to clean water infrastructure. They would use this pool of money to fund electronic poll books, land banks, census preparation, a foreclosure program and put aside more than half to “mitigate future financial plan risk.”
As for the clean water infrastructure, this would be funded with bonding (translation: borrowing).
