Authorities worry new Texas gun law will increase violence


Texas’ new law allowing most people to carry handguns in public without a permit or training came in part from the belief by many Texans that the best way to prevent crime and stop an armed bad guy is to make sure an armed good guy is nearby


Gov. Greg Abbott and his Republican allies in the Legislature who this summer made Texas the largest state with a so-called permitless carry law pitched it as a way to let people more easily defend themselves without government interference.



But research suggests crime actually rises after such laws are implemented. And Texas authorities, including many who spoke out against the new measure, worry that having more people walking around armed will lead to more disagreements being settled through gunfire and more lost or stolen firearms ending up in the hands of criminals.

So Texas just instituted constitutional carry. How’s that worked out for every other jurisdiction that’s done it? I’m sorry but I haven’t heard reports of any bloodbaths arising from a more constitutionally correct approach to firearms laws.

NOPE, I'm not buying it. We changed to Constitutional Carry down here a couple years ago, and there's no blood running in the streets. We haven't seen road rage incidents being shoot outs, we haven't seen barroom brawls being shoot outs, neighbors aren't killing each other over the dog barking, or the kids running across someone else's lawn!! Hell, it's been a polite society since I've been down here now, more than 6 years. BUT then again, we didn't need to grovel to anyone to own a handgun, you could have one at home, or even open carry (I'm not a big fan of it!!), I have seen quite a few down here doing it, mostly the 'Older Fellers', who normally are carrying large bore revolver of 1 caliber, or another. I'm willing to bet they know how to handle it quite well!!

Our CCDW permit was for concealed carry, that was the only reason to have one. I have mine, and will be renewing it, as it gives me reciprocity when I travel to other states!! Otherwise, I wouldn't need one!!

If the pussies don't want to live in a state that allows Constitutional Carry, they don't have to. With 21 states now having Constitutional Carry, there are still states left (for now anyway!!) that they will probably feel 'more comfortable'. As for me; I'm not betting my life on the fact that some 'social worker, or mental health expert' will be there to keep me safe! NOPE, NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!

Like they say; 'An armed society, is a polite society'!!
