Automatic AR-15 Exploding [video]

This is an older video. It appears that the shooter was using an autosear in an AR-15, but I don't really have any idea since the video doesn't specify.

Why do you guys think that the upper exploded?

If it was truly a drop in auto sear (DIAS), then a likely cause is the timing was incorrectly set on the DIAS/gun causing a slam fire out of battery.

So....a 300B jammed in the chamber since it was too wide, didn't fire, and the next .223/5.56 round acted like a firing pin on the 300B?

More so 300 danger noodle stuck in 556 barrel. Then no place for 556 energy to go. Lovely illustration below of 300bo shot in 556 barrel. One helluva obstruction.

I believe that is the largest danger, the 300 will chamber in a 556 without an issue. Article Here and here too

main reason for me that I didnt want to get into 300BO. I’m enough of an idiot normally and didn’t need to add to my odds of something going poorly.

Yes, and if that’s the cause then this is a violation of an important safety practice: never have 2 kinds of ammo on the bench at the same time if they can be confused for each other. I have followed this rule i.e., when loading 9mm and .380 for a trip to the range.

Must be optical illusion appears (to me anyway) that the neck on 556 cartridge is narrower than 300 BO projectile at same length but it seems that is not the case. Learn something new everyday...

Subsonic bullets in the 300BLK are way longer than supersonic bullets. Ex. 230 gr vs 124 gr. A 125 grain BLK round will chamber with no problem. But even with a 230 gain bullet, if it's long enough to get to the shoulder of the 556 chamber it will simply set the bullet back into the case. Voila. 300 Blk sub sonic round chambered in 556 chamber. My question though is are people loading their mags blindfolded? Even not looking at the rounds you can feel the difference. This is just lazyness/stupidity.

The typical kaboom is caused either by not knowing the difference (novice) or not paying attention (distraction) sometimes both. same thing goes for NDs.
