Don't make the leftist mistake of thinking laws are there to prevent crime. They are there to facilitate punishing criminals after the fact, and segregating the worst of them from society.

That is all they can ever do.

Trying to write laws that will make a future crime more difficult to commit is the path to tyranny.

No, but they'll pull a drivers license if you owe back child support.

Which kinda blows the whole justification that they are to make sure drivers are appropriately skilled.
