Ive always enjoyed knife/axe throwing and have spent time doing it periodically throughout my life. I was talking about it a year or so ago and my step son got me a set of SOG throwing tomahawks. They are fairly small and lightweight and after looking at them sitting on my bench for a year I built a target and started throwing again. This time I got my boys doing it with me too and we are having fun.

Now I find myself watching axe throwing videos and Im thinking of getting a better axe and building a better target.

Anyone else into throwing bladed objects?

Was just watching this on YT yesterday. After watching some videos I see this is more popular than I had thought. I can hit the target most of the time but my precision needs a good bit of work.

Absolutlely! I’ve only tried it about 3 times, but it’s a hoot. It was a rush when I hit my first underhanded throw!

I have the sog knife and axe kit. They sell it at cables every Christmas for like $60 and it’s 3 knives and 3 axes. Not the best quality but sure is fun and cheap.

I was into knife throwing pretty heavily for several years and got really good at it. That was more that 20 years ago now and like most hand and eye coordination skills it’s perishable if you don’t practice regularly. I can still throw a knife with some degree of consistency but nothing like I used to. I’ve tried Ax throwing a few times. I’d need to throw more on a regular basis to get anywhere near good at it. I think it helps that I still shoot traditional archery bows on a regular basis. It keeps the hand and eye coordination sharp.

I've made a few of them for throwing. I use a section I cut from a 3' diameter poplar tree for a target. It's mounted on a tripod and I soak it with used motor oil to keep it from rotting.
It is an enjoyable pastime and like all things of that nature, for me anyway, they must have a practice application.

I got into the axe throwing a few years back...

Might be time to begin that hobby again.

Can't say I've ever tried to throw axes.

Back in the day I could throw knives at pretty much like.. circus performer level skill (and I do mean the knife thrower, not the clowns). I'm not the kind of guy to brag about things, but that was something I did well enough to be a 'show-off'. In my youth I did (among others) Filipino martial arts that involved knives; which was somewhat unusual and rare in the states way back then. There was certainly no formal instruction on throwing and they definitely did not encourage it, but I threw them all the same (because of course one would) and got pretty good at it eventually.

Nowadays if I try it I just hurt myself (not from the blades, just the stupid body).
