Bad to dry fire PT911?

Just read the owners manual on my newly acquired Taurus PT911 and it stated that "dry firing is bad for this firearm". I didn't know that at first and had dry fired it probably a dozen times or so. Is it truly bad for this gun? From doing a cursory internet search, it seems that all Taurus manuals state this. Even with their striker fired variants.

Has to do with the resistance and distancethe firing pin will encounter/travel when fired. The firing pin or spring may get damaged by dry firing according to the theory of dry firing is bad. Get yourself some snap caps if you are worried.

Thanks for the technical explanation. That helps. Funny, I have snap caps for every single type of ammo I need except 9mm. It seems every time I think to buy them someplace that would carry them, they're out of 9mm

I don't unfortunately. That's a great tip though. I'm sure I could get bass from the range. Only tricky part would be getting the boolits.

Yes, except for the .22 caliber pistols which includes models 94 and 941.

.22 caliber revolvers such as models 94 and 941 also should not be dry fired.​
