Barrel Nut Grease

So as I'm working on my upper I've been reading a fair amount about barrel nuts and the need to grease them. Some sites say that any sort of anti-seize grease will be fine. Others say anything that contains graphite or copper should not be used as it creates an electrical charge and lead to corrosion.

The general consensus I seem to have gleaned is that the best is Aeroshell 33MS as it doesn't contain those elements and it's considered mil spec. AeroShell 33MS Mil Spec Armorer's Grease for AR-15 and Other Rifle Builds / Maintenance

I bought a little thimble size of Aeroshell and I don't think I'll ever use it all. Unless I somehow win the lottery. (but then I'd pay someone else to build for me...)

My step-father owns a service station so it's free and plentiful, just like the Mobil 1 I oil my firearms with.

Just message not-so-cooolone. He said he would LOVE to grease your nuts anytime. Also he is happy to wipe down your barrel until you are satisfied.

I have a 3 oz tube of Lucas Red "N" Tacky #2 (540F, Fortified w/ Anti-Seize, NLGI Wheel Bearing & Chassis Lubricant) that I am going to try going forward. I know others have used it without issues and it's cheap.

I'm curious about this. I installed a Geissele SMR onto an ASA upper, initially without grease, and there was a good-size gap between the upper and the rail, even after backing it off and re-torquing. After adding a little grease, I re-installed it and the gap was almost completely gone.
