The "same great service" is a laugh. In my experience, echoed across many reviews online, going in and standing around like a dolt while the half dozen store employees shoot the breeze with one another is an integral part of the experience.

I definitely got that crappy experience the first several times I went in there. Last few times, they've been adequately helpful.

It was nice having them so close to work but American Sportsman isn't much farther and while the place is small, his service was much better.

So I was just in there. The sale was good - got a couple pounds of A2200 at $12/lb, 110gr 6.8 Accubonds for $15/50 and a little Browning 1911-22.

Ryan said the building got sold quick (they were leasing it) so everything is happening faster than they had planned. All the unsold guns are going to auction and the packing up will start tomorrow. If you want something, get in there.

My best guess is that the FFL will enter some funky suspension state or be established as a new one. That would explain why all the guns are going to auction. They'll open in Henrietta in the fall.

I did not notice. There was a list on the counter but was dated sometime in June. They're letting people walk through the stock room. It looked like they had more Alliant powders left than any other brand. Unfortunately, I was searching specifically for the A2200 when I was back there and didn't pay attention to the other brands.

they need a better website on whats avail and prices .. even add shopping cart to it .. one of my biggest pet peeves . ( i used to make websites and forums like this ) .. IMHO a website with call for prices is a waist of $$$ .. ( unless its a ohhh whats the word .. brain fart .. ) like no way could a home contractor for remodeling and stuff could have prices listed ..

Their website is and has been worthless. I agree with you "call for prices". That's okay if everyone else is doing it. If they are not, forget it. I buy cars a lot and I see the same thing in local dealerships. Most are smart enough to list prices. "Call for price" = not interested.

All I ever got from the beikirch website was their contact number which, the bulk of the times I ever called, resulted in nothing but an answering machine.

Wifey went in to pick up that 1911-22 and Ryan was talking like he had a significant say in where they end up this fall. Him taking over would fit with everything else we've heard.

I purchased a run via ryan and I like him best. ie did make stand around too long staring into space. He was good to deal with. I;d like to see him in the new place as well. I was a 1911-22 as well...let me know how you like it. I just wonder why they would want a new name vs the current name they work on...unless they just want a "FRESH" start.

I have a list of 63 firearms I'll be bidding on so long as the online bidding does not go above my potential high bid and so long as the ones I am considering look okay during the preview.

Store price tags are still attached to many of the guns from the gun store. I am guessing there will be bids higher than the asking price on the store tags attached to some of the guns from that gun store once the buyer's premium is added on and maybe even some higher than the store price even before the buyer's premium is figured into the total.

Even tough there are a lot of nice firearms in this auction, I am looking much more forward to the EARLY GUN & MILITARY AUCTION auction in September.

I'd probably be better off bidding on the older stuff, but I don't know enough about them to know a good price range. I'm hoping to get at least at a good price, but I'm not holding out hope, like you said they will likely hit close to retail.

Well, my list has grown by quite a few firearms. Of course, for some of those, I will never get the chance to bid because online bidding will go above my limit. On others, I will wind up not bidding after I have seen them at the preview and determined them not worth my money. On probably most of them, when I do bid, I expect to be outbid but then again sometimes I wind up with the high bid. My bidding will be cut short if I get one or two higher priced firearms early on.

I'll also be bidding on some other things including some in the side room. I wish they made announcements in the main hall as to which table they were on once they have moved to a new table in that side room. The way it is now, if you are in the main hall and bidding on guns and you also want to bid on something in the side room, it can be next to impossible to time it right to get back there when the table with your items comes up for bids.

I "May Have Won' 4 guns on Internet pre-bidding.. I thought about going to Geneva this morning but decided to sleep in instead. If I win even one gun I'll be surprised - I purposely didn't go above a certain amount and some of them I underbid by a fair amount. All four I'd be happy to have - Ruger LCR in .22LR, Ruger SR1911 in 10mm (!!!), Beretta APX 9mm, Iver Johnson Top-Break .38 cal (love the idea of a top-break revolver, just seems cool).

Again, I expect all of my bids to be exceeded at the live event (you there @Glenn B ?) so it's a waiting game. Too bad there's no way to see live bidding online (that I see).. It says they'll e-mail you invoices at the end of the auction if you won..

Iver Johnson Top Break .38 Cal. double action revolver, 3.25" barrel with holster, nickel finish - $100 ($113 after 13%)

I was not looking to add a 10mm to my collection at this time (don't even have any 10mm ammo!) but even after the buyer's premium it's still about $100 less than on gunbroker.com - though not looking to resell at this time. Will be interesting to compare to my SR1911 in .45 ACP though.

Glad my other bids didn't make it, I kind of went bid crazy at the end...

I think I may have won the Savage 11 Lightweight Hunter in 243. The "Price Realized" is the same as my max bid but I haven't gotten any emails yet.

I bid on the Weatherby Orion too, but I think I got sniped at the live auction. My max was $25 less than the realized.

With online versus live bidding, there is always a chance you were outbid by someone, who was bidding live, with the same exact amount as your high bid. Joe explained it yesterday just in case any of the live bidders also had online bids. Good luck with it.

I did a little bidding too. I had the high bids on several items:

A unfired (new) in the box Savage 111 Long Range Hunter in 300 WIN MAG - a true steal at about $532 out the door(OTD). The lowest priced one I can find online is selling for $750 and would be $778.80 shipped or a total of $803.80 after adding on the necessary FFL fee. So at the price for which I got mine, that's almost a 34% savings over he lowest online price available as per AmmoSeek.com. That put a smile on my face.

Then there was a Winchester Model 290, semi-auto tube fed rifle. I went over my limit for that one and paid a total of $112.34 for it. It is in VG condition. I am not a professional gun grader but am guessing the finish to be 90% which would make its value about $225. Even if as low as 80% finish, it would be worth $175 (or whatever someone else would pay for it if I offered it for sale).

I also picked up a Mossberg 395T shotgun, full choke 28" barrel, takes 2 3/4 & 3" shells; in VG to EXC condition for $70.95 OTD. This one is probably valued at about $100 - $110.

The last one I got was a Glock 30 Gen 4 unfired (new) in the box for $384.31 OTD. I knew sooner or later, I would get one of the Glocks I was bidding on at or below my bid limit of $325 (the 1.1% buyer's premium and tax make up the remainder of the price). That was also something to smile about because the lowest online price I could find, using AmmoSeek.com, was at my go to ammo dealer TargetSportsUSA.com. They have it for $522.50 with free shipping; add $45 for the FFL fee (pistol more expensive than rifle at my local dealers) and the total would have been $567.50 or a 32% savings over the lowest online price. This one may wind up as a birthday or Christmas present for my son.

Also picked up a locking metal pistol case in beat up condition but the locks work (combo locks) and I got it only to use if I transport a pistol in my trunk. In addition, I got some .380 Auto ammo to add to the ammo cache and three 525 round boxes of Federal Champion 22LR to donate to a juniors rifle club down my way. May have paid right at or a bit over store price (like .15 or .25 cents) per box of 525) for the 22LR ammo but since I was buying it for the club that was negligible.

Not a bad day for me. Even with my travel and motel costs considered, I made out well. I usually do not consider those added onto the auction costs because what I spend on one night at a motel and for gas/tolls and food is what I would have spent (or more) having a fun weekend upstate anyway. On the way home, I got in some fishing too. Had an excellent trip.

By the way, they will still have some guns from the gun store up for bids at a future auction. Not many as compared to yesterday's amount but some few still remain. They are also looking at auctioning off a lot of reloading supplies, especially gun powder at a separate auction - maybe next month - probably on a Sunday.

I hope they can be successful in the new shop. But, I hear they wont carry reloading stuff. If might be tough to do well not selling the consumables that bring people into the store. I think at the old shop the had a ton of reloading stock but most of it was the less common stuff and they were out of the common stuff a lot. Their ammo prices were high. Fine for a guy buying a gun and wanting a box but not for a guy who likes to shoot often.
