Beikirchs is getting out of the reloading bizz

they are selling ALL their gunpowder, and primers (they have NO small pistol primers) projectiles and cases.

So if you're in a mood to buy some gunpowder, you might want to run over there, soon.

Things are very, very slow over there.

I've noticed the same in the last year. It's still by far my favorite LGS. There's really no other decent sized one around the Rochester area anymore that's not a big box retailer like Field & Stream.

I drive from Ontario County to The Firing Pin for just about everything. I think nothing of bypassing Beikirch, American Sportsman. Kinton isn't even a blip on my radar. Hell, I used to live within walking distance from Pro Gun when they were in business, and they didn't even see a penny of my money.

Beikirch's when owned by Bob and his son was spotless. Always had adequate stock. Not always the cheapest but if you needed it, they most likely had it.

Now....it's a dump. Stock thrown everywhere, counters all cluttered up. It's a shame.

They have (or had) two really great guys there by the name of Jim and David. I feel sorry for them if they're still hanging on.

Fred at American Sportsman isn't the friendliest guy alive but he does well for himself so he must be doing something right.

ProGun Services was a racket.....high prices, couldn't care less about the customer unless they were collecting your money.

REAL Gun shops in NYS are an endangered species.

Who else in town stocks powder? It has never been available at the box stores in Henrietta. They always blamed the fire marshal.

I'll have to stop in and see what they have left.

I know Kielon Gunsmiths in Webster had a very small amount on hand the last time I was in there.

Bass Pro in Auburn has powder so the new store in Victor might carry it when they open.

I like the guys at the Firing Pin a lot. I have been there a fair amount of times since they opened, but not in the last year or so at least.

I heard just yesterday that Dave, the rifle salesman that had the first seat by the door, is gone. I haven't confirmed that in person though. I was pretty shocked, he'd been there forever.

Actually, Field & Stream in Henrietta has cleared the Fire Marshal and have/can acquire powders. Not sure what they have as I haven't been looking for any in quite a long time, I got a boat load from Beikrichs a while back, so I'm well stocked.

you would be correct, Dave was let go about a month ago along with a couple other guys. From what Alan was saying, he is "retired and collecting unemployment"

I have been there twice in the last two days, the parking lot was empty both times. A few years ago the place would be packed even during the day

Sure is. it's been a while since I've visited, but when I was in the area a few times late last year, it was completely empty. I'd tend to agree with my previous statement though. I don't need to get into specific details, but blatantly lying to a customer that knows better while wasting their time and money is not very professional. It goes further past that point, but it's not important.
