Benelli M4

I have much time with the Benelli M1. If the M4 is half as good it will be an excellent empty shell maker.
I had an M4 loved it. Unfortunately had to sell due to financial reasons I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Another member from this site (or the former site) recommended some modifications to stock configuration. I replaced 5 round tube with 7 round titanium tube from Freedom Fighter Tactical (FFT), replaced stock with Mesa Tactical Urbino stock which was a bit shorter than stock. Also added an FFT aluminum shell carrier. You have 7+1+1 capacity (if you ghost load a shell on the carrier plate). I think the only other gun that can do this is a Mossberg. I ran the M4 hard at a tactical shottie class and it didn't have a hiccup and my shoulder wasn't even sore following day. Great gun.

M1 S90 guy also. Don’t own an M4..As far as the people’s take its excellent. From what I hear the US Marine’s fancy it too
I love my M4, it's a sturdy and accurate shottie. My only beef is that it's picky with some ammo. Because it's interia/gas, it doesn't like low recoil ammo.

I e never heard a narrative thing about one. My only regret is not buying the one off my buddy when it was offered to be for $700.

I've owned both Beretta 1201's and Benelli Montefeltro's with the inertia Drive system, and brother they are fast!
For competition, hunting, and home defense I use a 1201FP... I've never had a failure to feed or eject, and a couple times we tried to shoot the gun until empty before the first hull hit the ground, and I'm pretty sure it can be done.
This doesn't answer the question about the Benelli, but being just like the Beretta's, it's a no brainer.

Beretta 1301's would be on my list of consideration as well
But if I was going to spend that much, I might as well just spend a little more and go for the Benelli

I got all excited when the 1301's came out, but that excitement faded with the price.
I did pick up a Beretta A300 which is remarkably similar to the 1301 action wise.
One day it'll be the right place and price and it'll come home to sit on the rack with the others.

The venerable Winchester "1200" and "1400" which were made in America for decades are now made in Spain, and as you look at the action designs of some of the Imports from Turkey, they too look remarkably like the original Winchester pump and semi-automatic.

All American, engineered and built. Somewhere I saw a Ny legal option too. But the sticking point is that their suggested retail is well above my Beretta 1301.
Pistol grip is not an evil feature on shotgun in NY but there are certain configurations that would make it a no go within NY. M4 is GTG with 7 round tube and "fixed" stock (including pistol grip).

I’ve never fired an M4, but looked at them quite a bit. Even before Covid, they were like $1700-1800 from the cheapest online vendors, plus you had to buy parts to increase mag tube and I believe to make it 922r compliant or something. Ended up being like $2300+ with my labor, so I passed.
Then the 1301 tactical came out. It was a lot cheaper, and had been proven to be “the” shotgun for many 3 gun and tactical/defensive shooting instructors.
My take is that the 1301 is as good if not better than the M4, but the M4 is “battle tested” and was in some video games, so it has that cool factor. Depends on what you’re looking for. Both are good shotguns.
