What are some tested and true gun cleaners /lubers that have rust inhibitors that you trust? Been using balistol for years... a friend of mine reccommended hornandy one shot .. what are some of your favorites that prevent rust and are great cleaners/lubers for hunting /ccw/ and safe storage firearms. ‘Dont like frog lube” cakes when cold..

I've been using Ballistol for awhile now. Pretty happy with it....except for the smell.

I use Mobil 1 5W30 to lube all my guns. I have never needed to scrub anything. Just a quick wipe down and reapply.

Ballistol for really caked on stuff... can't stand the smell, and I clean indoors in a poorly ventilated room.

I've been having good luck with Strike Industries 'Anti-Venom XPLC' which is more of a lube than a cleaner. Might be nonsense but I've found it to work well. (but then I was also an early user of Froglube... so take my opinions with a grain of Lib tears)

If you have to go the CLP route, Ballistol, if you don't mind the weird smell, like sweatsox and bad aftershave. Breakfree is only ok.

I still rather clean first with Mirachem and then lube with Militec-1.

I'm still old school, Hoppes #9 for cleaning, then a light oiling when done. But then again, I am retired and have ALL kinds of time!

I've been using Shooter's Choice FP-10 pretty much exclusively for many years. I have no idea if it's the 'best' , but it works pretty darn good and good enough for me.
I tend to clean after every use.. and often enough after no use at all, so nothing really ever gets all that fouled. I also keep several rechargeable moisture absorbers in the safe; seems to help a lot (so long as a I remember to plug them in every once in a while).
