Beware of Gun Signs: The Law Has No Sense of Humor

I have pro 2A stickers on both of my trucks.

But at my lawyers advise, I took down both of my beware of dog signs.
With all of the dumb asses out there, the signs probably wouldn't have done any good anyways.

Come to find out. The signs were just putting me at risk legally speaking.

It’s not about what’s reasonable or what your intent is but how a POS DA or prosecutor will paint you as a bloodthirsty murderer to a “jury of your peers.” The majority of whom have never touched a firearm and believe them to be evil here in the PRNY.

We hope our neighbors can see through such obvious deception but would you bet your freedom on it?

Do you load Your Own ammo? Oh gee, he kept his gun clean and ready... OMG, he went to the range weekly because he wanted to make sure he'd kill someone... He had skulls on his grips... Etc, etc, etc...

The prosecutors JOB is to convict you! And yeah, they will try using any legal means.

But the NRA sticker, or Nine-Line shirt isn't going to explain away the guy kicking in your door with a gun in his hand that you shot, etc.

And "FACT" is as long as you do not have any "ILLEGA" accessories, there's not much to talk about...

Just make sure when and if (heaven forbid) you have to use deadly force, that you are doing so within what the law allows you legally to do. Know the laws of your State, etc. In NY, you kill someone, regardless of the circumstances, you will probably be knee deep in legal issues. But don't fall into the trap that they want you to think about a hundred other things that will fall onto you... Fuck that noise!

Do what you want! 99.9% of us will never ever have to worry about anything that jellyfish article wants you to worry about!

A friend of mine has one of those "I Carry" stickers on his car.
99% of people ask him what it means.
1% asks what gun he carries.

I was up in Bloomingdale, NY. My buddy owned the only convenience store in the town, the Blooming Market. We were hanging in the parking lot one day and this Harley pulls up to the gas pump. I see his plate read 'JUDGE'. So I head over to him and ask him which judge he carried? He said he liked them all. He then said there weren't very many people that got the reference.

Turns out the guy said he was the local chapter president of SCOPE. We chatted for a few and went our separate ways.

Heres a story about the "Beware Of Dog" sign.
Years ago, when I first met my GF and I was just out of school and setting up my career, we rented a house from her(GF) co-worker.
It was a temporary living situation, probably going to be a couple years.
The house was pretty crappy but the 25 acre property was great....and the $350/month was great too.
Within the first month we found several very dangerous code violations in the house.
We were very happy to have the place so we bought smoke detectors, we moved the wood stove away from the wall that was charring because it was so close, and we did several other things.
But we contacted the landlord when it came to the toxic water, leaking septic tank and rigged propane furnace and hot water tank. Both had all safety mechanisms bypassed so they worked. Yep, crappy house.
The landlord said the house was "as is" and he refused to fix anything.
We had no option, we were broke, so we called the code enforcement guy in the small town we lived in.
This landlord was a school teacher in this small town and his wife was the only doctor. We soon found out that they were very friendly with everyone.
The code enforcement guy looked around and said "it looks like Mike has everything in order". When he came to the property he said he did not know the landlord, now hes calling him Mike.
So, we were advised by my lawyer cousin to withold rent. He said to put the money in a seperate bank account but do not give it to landlord.
We did that for 2 months, then the landlord started coming out everyday to pound on the doors, demanding his rent.
At the time we had 2 dogs, both pitbulls, both very, very friendly and well behaved.
We had a "Beware Of Dog" sign on our door.
Before all this the landlord had met and played with our dogs. He commented how great they were on several occasions.
However, he went to the local judge, his lifelong friend, and made a complaint that he could not go to our house to get rent because we have 2 "vicious" dogs, and a sign to prove we knew they were mean.
The judge sent us a letter that said to pay our rent in full within 7 days or animal control was going to remove the dogs so the landlord would be comfortable to come to his property.
We went and told our side to the judge but he said to follow the directions on his letter to us.
So, we took it to the county level court.
After 3 months we WON on all counts including an "abuse of power" lawsuit agaisnt the judge.
That gave us enough to get the hell out of that little town.
A year latter the judge of Poland NY was removed from the bench for other things he was doing.
So, no more dog signs for us.

Just as "the moneys in the mattress" not in the bank. You can't take them with you all the time. Any home that has no one their is a potential target so I don't advertise

So a sign that reads "Danger, High Voltage" is acceptable but one that reads "Danger, occupant is armed" is bad? Ok, got it.

I don't think it's bad...just ill advised

I have no progun stickers of any sort on my car. I was tempted once several years ago to put my NRA Life Member sticker in but I frequent a lot of liberal areas and didn't want it to be vandalized. I have two pro-gun t-shirts that I basically wear around the house or at the backyard range and an NRA hat. That's it. In this day and age with everything going on I believe it's better to fly in under the radar.

Don't buy a gun for home protection either, it means you have intent on using deadly force on a home invader. I learned long ago not to advertise a dam thing via stickers on my car.

WTF does that mean? You're f'in a right I'm gonna use deadly force when I find someone in my hem that doesn't belong there....if necessary. Now we're going to go back to the whole "shoot to wound" argument? Am I supposed to keep a loaded pellet gun so an intruders dirtbag attorney can cook up some story in court? Am I supposed to hope an intruder is going to run out with the first sign of resistance?

In my case my lawyer came to my house. (we target shoot together once in a while) He said
you need to get rid of them Beware of Dog signs... I was like huh?

Then he explained to me why. I have 2 aggressive GSD's so I thought that it was a good idea.
Come to find out, it was a dumb move on my part.
