Ok? So it’s my money to begin with, it’s stimulus money meant to stimulate the economy and I’m doing just that with it. My problem with giving it to the poor is they will loss it away. They won’t pay their back rent and they will be bitching when it’s time to evict. Then the owners of the rental will be bitching I need a bailout so we will pay those stupid people twice with my money. Not my fault they made bad choices. I still pay my rent and I’m stimulating the economy with that money.
Although at this point I’ve pretty much said I will only buy what I need. Today my goal is to damage the economy as best I can to hopefully sabotage the current administration. I hope other agree and will join in.

I have no problem with RELIEF payments to those who need it. My beef is with STIMULUS payments broadly sent out to stimulate demand which already exists. Early in this thing you could make a case for it but now, not so much.

Seems like he changed course and wants to steam ahead with it. He was likely just testing the waters and watching social media. People sound pissed that he wanted to cut the income cap. Now the news is blaming republicans.
You are right I’ll be fine without it but the whole thing losses me off. You’re right we can’t afford it but the used it to win the GA election then wanted to back off of it. I’m sure Biden got slapped and said no you have to do this or it’s a real bad start to your presidency. We will see what actually gets passed. Either way it’s bad.
Also I’m not sure the demand is there or if the companies are having trouble making and getting components to make items. I heard they are having trouble getting components to make new cars. Who knows what the truth is anymore honestly. I sure don’t.

Unfortunately there is no longer any truth in any media. Broadcasters are allowed to point out their own views and 70 years ago the only person allowed tp do that was the editor and usually only done once a week. Reporters were kept to a code...a code that didn't support false reporting or their own opinion. With an Editors column...a person knew the stance of the paper's owner/owner's.

True. The news is more like a talk show now than actual fact reporting. News caster shouldn’t cry when a president gets elected or get giddy. If they do they should be fired. I get crying over 9/11 or being happy for the feel good story of the day but all others should be facts only.

I haven't, and still don't, see stimulus checks given to gainfully employed americans as much different than a temporary UBI. I didn't and still don't support them to people who've maintained their jobs.
In any case an interesting tidbit: your 2020 stimulus checks were based on the amount of your income in 2020. But since the gov didn't know that, it looked at 2019 returns to guess as to your 2020. Now the fun part: if your 2019 income said you get, let's say $1000 and your 2020 income was much lower, so you should have gotten $1500, you will get the $500 difference. But if your 2019 income said you should get $1000 and your 2020 income said you should get $500, do you have to pay back that $500 when you file 2020 taxes? Amazingly (to me), no you do not. IRS said they won't come clawing back this stuff. So if your income was $50 M last year but $30k in 2019 you got your full stimulus check and still pay none of it back

If the republicans had balls they would have done the same with national concealed carry. They don’t so they failed. The republicans would do the same thing. Biden and the democrats campaigned on it and won so why should we expect differently. I’m sorry but I can’t blame them for moving forward on what they promised and won on to the American people. I attribute the republicans being obstructionist on this to them losing GA. I feel if they would have given $2,000 last go around the Republicans would have held the senate.

Not giving the $2000 checks was a boondoggle. I agree that it cost them the Senate and now we already have Kamala casting tie breaker voted. Expect to much more of that going forward.

As I have posted before it was Mitch McConnell who stopped it. They had two tastes at the well and Mitch accepted the Tax Reform package for one that passed, and accepted Obamacare repeal for the other that failed. He would not accept multiple major moves on a reconciliation package, nor an individual bill that would not clear Cloture even though there was support for both in Congress. In spite of supporting SCOTUS appointments (and I am not convinced any of the three are true Constitutionalists or could compare to Scalia or Thomas) swamp monster McConnell has not been good for either our Conservative electorate or the Constitutional Republic. I know a military family in Germany even gets the stimulus, how about 6 x 1400 and I am glad for them as I also believe, military pay should of never been taxed as its Orwellian to hand out money and take part of it back. Same with social security. Anything past base pay, that's fair game.
The stimulus for these overseas family more likely to pay down debt that go buy more stuff as all the got is the BX/PX and in the end, can only get so much stuff.
Real reasons: Pacify the masses and crash the economy to include the dollar, this helps getting there.
