I am not a big historical preservation buff, but there is some merit to this one.
1. When hundreds of thousands of people needed to be evacuated from Lower Manhattan on Sept. 11, 2001, the US Coast Guard cutter Adak was ready in New York Harbor, in charge of what would become the largest maritime rescue in world history.
2. The USCGC Adak Historical Society has been petitioning the Coast Guard since last January to give them the boat when it is decommissioned later this year so they can turn it into a museum, memorial and education center for disadvantaged youth that would be docked in Tampa Bay, Florida. They pledged to cover any and all costs associated with returning the vessel to the US and are even willing to buy the cutter through the General Services Administration.
3. “This cutter doesn’t have to go to Indonesia, there’s plenty of other 110-foot cutters that could go to Indonesia,” said James Judge, the historical society’s founder and a former Coast Guardsman who spent 13 months aboard the cutter while it was deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Just give them another one and give this one to the society!

Agree to me it is nothing, but it is to them, just let them have it already. Like I said not a big historical preservationist, but this one is an easy decision if there are other boats just like it available.

Kind of the argument the left uses regarding our founding documents. Just outdated pieces of paper...
And yes, there are museums full of artifacts from the Civil war, the Titanic, World War whichever, the Holocaust, the list goes on, and on. One thing that distinguishes the left from us “Normies” is their utter contempt for any historical truth, unless it helps their narrative. We tend to revere and reflect on history, they want to tear it down. If preserving this boat sticks a finger in their eye and helps to show the truth to their lies, then I’m all for it.
I do not agree with this assessment at all. This is nothing like our Founding Documents. This was a boat that played a small part in a terrible event.
If we as Americans saved and hung onto each and every artifact, we would have no room to live.

It does not need millions and the funds for it are not government funds. Needs around 1 million and it is coming from donations of like minded people.
