1) Anyone remember "Arab Spring"? Where a bunch of people in the middle east rose up against their government, successfully? They followed the tried-and-true tactic of using small arms to capture larger arms (such as tanks) to even out the playing field.

2) A fight against a tyrannical US government would not be a handful of civilians vs the US Military. It would be state vs state, US Military vs US Military. And it would be a rout. The cities would fall, quickly.

3) The individual citizen is unlikely to experience (direct) tyranny from the federal government. There are something like 85,000 different government "units" in this country - 1 federal, 50 state, and 84,950 local. The individual citizen is typically going to experience tyranny from their local government. So they wouldn't be fighting against the US military, it would be against some local jackboots with comparable levels of armament.

4) History has shown that local uprisings against tyranny are often successful. The Battle of Athens is a commonly-cited example (and a great example of citizens fighting against local tyranny), but there are many other examples as well. More recently, the activities of the Bundys - and eventual outcome of the subsequent court cases - shows that individuals can successfully resist government tyranny.
