"Big Beautiful Bill" and Supressors?

The BBB has narrowly passed the house. The talking heads are doing their thing saying that its going to be the wild west/ John Wick/ murder zone with silencers being removed from the NFA.
I looked at the bill and only see that the $200 tax would be reduced to $0. Am I missing something or are there other things hidden in it?

Thats what I am getting at. Everyone is talking how they are they going to be removed, no registration, no paperwork other than a 4473, state preemption, etc, etc.

Not that its beyond them to make a law making something more illegal-er but § 265.02(2) already exists.

That is why I asked about this super secret version of the bill that is shrouded in mystery and somehow has a preemption clause.

Looks like it'll remain intact through Senate; the pressure now is to get SHORT (short barrel riles/SG's removed from NFA) written in as it goes through Senate. Keep the pressure on, we're winning!

Not that I believe for a minute that any pro-Gun Legislation is going to pass in the Democrat Legislature, there is one being floated around in EnCon to allow suppressors for Hunting...I won't say it can't happen, but there's not much chance, then again "Switchblades" are allowed, and of course there's the Threaded Muzzle classifying Semi-Automatic Rifles/handguns as Assault Rifles that would have to be amended.
As far as Legislating over existing Law: It's a self-aggrandizing thing that they can use as political capital for their next run at Office.

Suppressors were REMOVED from the NFA list in the bill that passed the House, not dropped to zero $, registration with ATF no longer required.

We can have threaded barrels on bolt actions, lever actions, single shots, and non detachable magazine semi autos. If by some miracle nys suddenly allowed suppressors you could attach it to any one of those type of firearms.

You’re not even seriously thinking NYS will allow use to have suppressors are you? I mean only assassins and hitmen need them so why should we be able to have them? It is a minuscule step in the right direction though.

No I don’t think it will ever happen outside of direct federal legislation. I was correcting the false statement that says we can’t have threaded barrels. We absolutely can have threaded barrels, just not on detachable magazine semi auto guns.

Since the entire NFA is predicated on it being a tax enforcement mechanism, if the tax is $0, then it can't be enforced.

The NFA registry is ostensibly there to enforce the $200 tax. Possession of an unregistered device is technically just tax evasion. $0 tax, then zero crime.

Shouldn't be anything to transfer.

Correct, no 4473. Suppressors become an accessory, like a pistol grip or a scope.

All of mine are in single shot trusts. I will pull the trigger on a few more if this change makes it through reconciliation and signed into law.

I'm definitely not going to start researching suppressors anytime soon. Never going to happen in NY.
