1 billion was probably quoted in 2019, and Hochul probably agreed to cover 85%. Actual costs will come in much higher.

AND if my tax dollars went to build Yankee stadium, which we will never use, then they can build a football stadium too"

Theres hardly a stadium or arena in existence in the US thats not partially publicly funded. And they also almost always operate in the red. This is nothing new. But these facilities get used for a lot more than just a few games per year. Sporting events and others are entertainment for many people, but certainly not all.

State money goes to many things that most of us will never use.
