Expandable batons and automatic knives would be great.

I thought that there was some momentum going for automatics to be allowed when the spring assisted fiasco was going on.

I still don't get why there is laws on automatic knives. Makes no sense.

NY is governed by a clown show and not serious people.

They legislate based on Hollywood, and not reality.

Ughhhh if you guys only knew how useless the expandable back scratchers are. I only carry one because I'm issued and required to. I'd trade that and the Taser in for my straight cocabola stick back in a heartbeat. I still wear the ring for my beloved stick.

The only useful striking area is the top 1-2" of the baton. Inside of there, it's useless.

It was originally designed so Detectives could have an intermediate weapon. Instead, Police Administrators decided that straight sticks were "too aggressive" and thought that useless expandable shit would be a less offensive alternative.

I wouldn't say they're useless. They need to be used within their limitations.

For those of us who cannot readily carry a 36 inch log on our belts, a collapsible baton could be a handy accoutrement.

There's also quite specific training for its employment, that we do yearly, to remind us not to hit the DPF spots.

If this is passed, ensure you understand what you can and cannot do with these things.

Sounds like there might be room for someone to design a more effective version.

Seems like it must be possible to design an expandable baton without any unfortunate tradeoffs.

Auto knives are ok, if you are fishing, so there's always a pole in my trunk!

And martial arts tools used for the purpose of practicing the art, dance.. for performance and display is ok too. I am a life long Martial Artist, and possess Bo Staff, Nun-Chucks, Sai's, and more... What's the problem? Just keep your Gi in the trunk as well! Hahahaha

I'm not sure court decisions, even from SCOTUS, mean much anymore. The Left now understands that the courts have no teeth against tyrannical legislatures. After the NYSRPA vs Bruen decision came out, the NY legislators and the anti-American governor said, "So what?" They wrote another unconstitutional law that violated every tenet of the SCOTUS decision.

Until there are substantial personsl penalties that can be imposed on elected officials that craft unconstitutional legislation, we are a lost society.

I broke a shovel handle many years ago prying a rock out of the garden. It broke off about 30 inches from the top. I cut the splintered crap off where it broke and smoothed off the end some. It's about 24 inches long now. It's been placed in a lower open compartment of the driver side doors of my last three trucks. Easily accessible.

We keep a harbor freight 25" breaker bar in the car.

It really is just in case the wife needs to change a tire without me. If she was attacked she'd just shoot them. It's got the 3/4" deep well on it.

But, the breaker bar would make a very effective weapon. A little heavy, so it's not ideal, but it's the right size and length, and would break whatever bone you manage to hit.
