Here's a thought - how about we agree that a fuckwit that cracks an infant's skull (Texas) and a fuckwit that stabs a woman (Cali) deserve the same sentence - life w/no parole. One strike and you're out, forever. That would have prevented the last two mass shootings. Personally, I'd prefer to see a long drop and a short rope, but I'm willing to compromise.

They use their positions to continually complicate things, make new unnecessary laws and legislation and just in general screw things up solely for the fact that they can tell their voters "they did something"
They should just enforce laws already on the books, find a way to make the system work as intended and those who fail in their duties should be held accountable.
The legislators should be spending more time trying to figure out how to get rid of redundant laws, out dated laws, ineffective laws etc than making new laws.
It's just doing something to further complicate our lives and increase government control.

With regards to the Texas church shooting it appears that some person or persons in the Air Force screwed up. IF and I repeat IF, this fact is established after the investigation we should "out" those who are responsible. Plaster their names all over the media. Hound them, shame them as the incompetent assholes they are. All procedures for getting info to the FBI are in place already. No more laws. Do your damn job or face the consequences.
