I have been a member of the club for a few years now. I haven't gone often in the past but I had the opportunity to join and took it. I'm wondering if there a any members here on the forum. thx

I'm a member. I have to mail my dues in this week, actually. I should really go visit when the COVID stuff dies down. I haven't spoken to Jim in a while, but he was very nice to me unlike the other clubs. He took a chance on me. They were all really nice considering I'm in it for the rights and I don't personally hunt.
I regret not being more involved in the club on the politics side, although when I tried to get involved with the politics end of things none of my calls were returned and I gave up after a while trying to reach someone in the club about it.
Overall they're nice people. Good conversation.

I'm a member now nearly 5 years. Everyone I have met has been very nice and engaging. I haven't hunted any of the properties yet due to prior family commitments but I intend to in the future.
I'm not politically active here in NY as I believe its a lost cause. I do donate money to groups who are legally challenging NY firearm laws.

I’m guessing there are more than one black rock gun club since I know libertysnake and Cgrutt do not live close to one another. What club location are you speaking of?

Ok. We’re in Buffalo and there’s an area in Buffalo called black rock too. So not putting words in libertysnake’s mouth but I’m thinking he was referring to the one in the Buffalo area.

No I'm talking about the one in Orange County. It's really nice actually.
If it weren't far for most people, I'd highly recommend using the property for a NYGF BBQ. They have nice clubhouse grounds you can fully rent on the cheap.

I think that might cause issue for the western NY folks like @GOPerfect and the like, which is a real shame as Black Rock has one of the LARGEST pistol ranges ever. I think there are a good 6-7 pavilions with enough room on each for probably 5-6 people lanes wise. All very new and well maintained. That may be a lot of people as guests, but with a special request to rent the range it's probably do-able if Russ / Jim / Tom approves it maybe.

Shoot 5 Stand, Trap, Steel challenge Pistol + Rifle, Rifle, Muzzle loader and Bow.
Land that's owned by the club, not leased, to pheasant + deer hunt and also as a Pheasant preserve.
Also exclusive hunting privileges to the black rock forest preserve. Blackrockforest
The club has the best pistol ranges in the lower Hudson valley and is getting set up to shoot USPSA this year too.
Long wait to get in now, but the Shotgun fields are open to the public on Sunday's (April- Oct Aft 9 Am) to shoot Trap or five stand.
3D Bow trail shoots are open to the public too.
The website needs updating, but the directions are correct.

Was a member for about 10 years or so unfortunately had to let it go last year. Great club just wasn't in the cards for me past couple years. Would definitely recommend it.

I have an opportunity to become a member but I just moved to New Jersey. Can I shoot at a NY range with my own?

I don't know what the club rules are for accepting new members now. It used to be Orange county NY residents only but that changed a while ago. If they did accept you being a NJ resident, NY doesn't have a reciprocity with any state as far as handgun permits.
