It's interesting though. Do you think that because it's a paddle trigger located behind the magazine that it could potentially be NY compliant? Or does the fact that it has an evil pistol grip still make it a no-no?

Absolutely.

If it’s still a semi automatic that can accept a detachable magazine and has one banned feature, it doesn’t matter where the trigger is. Still illegal.

I can do one better than this, I doubt I'll be able to find a link or the old video, but some company made a rifle light switch that was the trigger, so pretty much made it a 3 stage trigger (or 2 stage cant remember it was a few years ago at shot show) but you had to "lightly press" the trigger to activate the light like a pressure switch
