So this post is Going to be long. But I'm typing it from my phone and it's probably going to be poorly organized and have frequent mis-spellings.
I have been reading and absorbing all this chatter, gossip about the new cold civil war. And I've also recently read up on civil war one.
I've been paying a lot of attention to recent political and pop culture events.
I feel that we have reached our modern version of "bleeding Kansas" where each side is increasingly upping their rhetoric and tactics, the level of open hatred has gone up exponentially, people are now looking to use violence, intimidation and coercion to affect politics. There have already been limited politically motivated kinetic attacks (congress Republican baseball shooting etc..)
I don't see it stopping.
Those on the left thought they had this shit locked up. 8 yrs of Obama's legacy was going to be built on and expanded under another 8 years of Hillary. All the better the republican nominee was trump, what a joke, it's a "sure thing" that they keep methodically advancing their agenda.
Except it wasn't.
A funny thing happened.
Enough people in America were posses off enough to vote. Many who has written off the political establishment and either stopped voting years ago or never did. These newly engaged voters helped carry trump to victory.
Fast forward to today and President trump is trying to actually follow through on his campaign platform. The leftists are freaking out. They are using the deep state, court system and any other trick possible to jam up the works and undermine a duly elected leader. The left hates him. Our side sees how the left is behaving.
Look at the previous election cycle for 2016. There were literally street fights in Berkeley California that would have made the brownshirts or lenins followers jealous. There were riots in many major cities. Some the police Sat back on the sidelines while their preferred sides were winning. Other times the riots were effectively stopped.
We are fresh off the riots in fergeuson and the Dallas police ambush (ironically at an anti police rally, go figure)
Today turn on any pop culture award show or news program .it's NON STOP trump and republican bashing. NON stop.
How do you reconcile with that?
Our side has finally for the most part grown a pair and said no. No. Its enough. We're not just going to sit back anymore like we have for decades while you incrementally chisel away at us, undermine us, take our rights and slander us. We're done taking that shit.
The other night a grandma went off on lying Jim Acosta on tv. She totally went off on him. If grandma snaps you know it's gotten real.
The left leadership in Congress is openly calling for us to be harrassed, attacked, intimidated. Obama started this trend in 2007 and it's only continued to escalate. The difference is we are no longer just taking it.
The left is telling us exactly what they think. They are openly telling us they want to do whatever is necessary to take power back.
Now just today, it appears another SCOTUS seat will be available. The fight to get that seat filled is going to go nuclear. The left is going to do everything in their power to prevent another new fresh conservative appointment.
Remember just 2 years ago they thought they had this all locked up. They thought they had 8 more years to finish the job. They still right now think this should be their 2nd young left wing activist SCOTUS forever tipping the balance of power in this country.
The fringe left is going to go ballistic. They are like the petulant kid who didn't get his way, went off his meds and shot up a school. They are going to go into over drive.
Wait until you see what the political scene turns into for the 2020 races. Look out. Its going to get ugly.
The left is going to think They are entitle to violence to influence the country's direction because they are out of power and they are watching their vision go up in flames. Because it's their feelings that are hurt and their ideas matter most and that's all they care about.
I don't even see how there can be common ground anymore between millions upon millions of Americans.
Even on simple issues we can't agree. When half the country can't even agree if we should have open borders or not, there is a damn problem. A country needs to have a unified vision of where it should be heading if it is to succeed. We cannot flourish forever as fractured as we have become.
I made the analogy to "bleeding Kansas" as it was one of the last major events that led to the civil war. There are many similarities to today's political climate and considering even just the idea of open borders or not that and letting illegals in or not it reminded me of the divisions in bleeding Kansas. All it is going to take is for a few nuts on either side to actually follow through on their rhetoric and it may trigger a chain of events that leads to chaos and political terrorism or insurgency. Who knows.
All I know, is IMO I think it is becoming socially acceptable to bully, berate, use violence or intimidation, dehumanize and mock your political opponents to try and influence political outcomes or achieve power. Anytime in history that has happened it's never ended well. I don't see how we find common ground from where we are now and the path forward. If the dems win 2020 They will be back with a vengence, if trump wins the left will go into full out terminal trump derrangement syndrome. Its not good.
