Blue Trail Range in Wallingford CT

I was thinking about heading up to Blue Trail to break in a rifle. Its open weekdays all year round, and they will let you clean your rifle on the range. . Is anyone familiar with the place? Is it a good place to shoot? Would love to hear what people think..

Blue Mountain is closed now during the week until late march. And trying to break in a barrel (shoot / clean for the first 5, etc) would make for alot of driving if i cleaned it at home! I know, there may or may not be anything to "breaking in" a barrel but i wanted to try it to see for myself if it makes a difference.

What caliber? Wooster Mountain is the same, weekends only.

Never been but I know a few people that have. You pay one fee (I think $30.00) and shoot the whole day. No time limit. Rifle goes out to 100 yards where I believe Wooster is only 50. If you make a day of it it's worth the trip.

Blue Trail or " the old Lyman range " Haven't been there in years. What a great place to shoot. Used to shoot in the Connecticut Big Bore League there. 200 yds. with pits. Good fun. There is/was 100 yd as well.

Shot at Wallingford many times in the past as well... Haven't been there in about 6 or 7 years. It has an on-site diner and gun shop that's pretty well stocked. Indoor pistol range as well. Friendly folks as I recall. We always had a great time there. I remember they had a military-style 200 yard (pull down) range with no ceasefires. Alotta fun. I heard some developer or lawyer was trying to shut them down (ala Ardsley).

If you are in Wallingford, check out Delta Arsenal. Great shop. They have a Glock specialty shop in the corner on the main floor too. Had them do a double under cut on my Glock trigger guard which is sweet, made a huge difference for me, grip higher up othe bore. Great guys. I shot the Friday night plate rack head to head matches and it was a blast! Triple plate rack with large roundplate in front, small square plate behind it and smaller triangle behind that, all 6 across, and shooting head to head, double elimination. Gotta love falling steel.
