I am certain in this day and age every cop must bend over backward to show restraint before firing. Having said that with each step backward the cop only emboldened the idiot. In my mind he could have fired well before he actually did.

I am sure the inner city typical was only misunderstood. He probably wanted to finish his high school education at age 23 and go on to college to become a social worker to help kids or a vet.

He's lucky the guy didn't just hop in the car and drive off when he was 50 feet away.

I can't really fault the officer though. He just didn't want to have to kill anyone that day, and that I can understand.

He kept enough distance that he was never in any real danger, although backing up that much did open him up to some potential pitfalls. He hesitated, a lot, but he didn't subject anyone to any additional danger by doing so.

In the end he improved the gene pool, and the aggregate intelligence of America went up a little.

All that walking backward sure set up the cop to an ambush by the kid's acquaintances. It didn't happen, but it sure was a possibility. That being said, had the cop waited just another three seconds, the responding cruiser was there to assist. I think the jury is going to see that video and ask why he didnt wait one more second.

The LEO is lucky he didn't miss or have any rounds pass through.
