The definition of assault weapon in pistols only comes into play when the action is semi automatic and it accepts a detachable magazine. Then all the listed features come into play.

Call them and ask, they have previously said that “all AR15s are illegal in New York”.

I just called SAFE ACT, Suffolk Pistol Unit and my local gun shop and they said since it’s a bolt action I’m good to go.

Being that you’re the only one I’ve ever heard of successfully getting through with any kind of AR pistol, I think you ought to call back and try again by asking them. Maybe describe the DSI lower that has the magazine built directly in to the lower and is impossible to remove.

Just called and they said if it’s fixed and can only accept 10 rounds it’s good to go. Suffolk County Pistol Department seems like they’re following it by the book so whatever is written on paper that’s what they’re going with so if it’s NY compliant I’m pretty much good to go.

So today I went to my licensing officer who issued me a sportsman license (Suffolk) and tried to talk to him about getting a unRESTRICTED license and he didn’t know what a unrestricted license was. I told him that I called the safe act guys and his office (Pistol Unit) in regards of the pistol said that I want to purchase which is legal in NY due to it being a bolt action. I could have a legal bolt action AR Pistol with all the features since the safe act only focuses on SEMI AUTO pistols. He seemed like he didn’t really know about NY gun laws and he got confirmation from his boss and stated that “It would be legal for me to own, but we won’t put that pistol on your license due to it being a long gun.” I might now be the smartest Marine but even I know that makes no fucking sense; so I called safe act and told them and he pretty much said the same thing I was thinking. How can you say I can legally own a pistol but you won’t put it on my license? A gun that’s legal in my county and state but yet can’t even have it due to NY licensing officers deciding what gun they can put on your license.

Any suggestions other than leave NYS. Oh also told him I’m LAT moving to become a Military Police officer in the marines and pretty much said yeah I’m not exempt from NYS gun laws.

Those morons couldn’t be taught to open a jar. They are incapable of any sort of thought, abstract, concrete or otherwise. They are emboldened by a chain of command in charge of impeding, obstructing, and full-on denying people their civil rights.

This will continue until the Sullivan Law is found unconstitutional, something that may never occur.

I don’t know if voting for the right people can change anything, joining 2ANYS would it help, getting attorneys to fight for our 2A, doubt anything will change. I just want the NYS residents who love guns to enjoy it as much as everyone else in other states.
