Boyd’s AT-ONE Thumbole

I just received a new stock for my Savage Axis 2 223 Remington.

It is a Boyd’s AT-ONE thumbhole.

Since the ranges are closed, I took it out to the slate quarry near Napanoch... you know the place.

I was roughing it, so I took this dueling tree metal target. I figured 1/4 inch plates were good enough. I was wrong.

I have a Boyd's on my .223 but shouldve chosen the thumb hole. My son has one on his .223 and I like it much better. Yours looks fantastic.

I'm kinda shocked yours went through the steel like that.

The barrel is 22 inches. But, it has a 2 inch brake clamped on the end. I didn’t realize it was the size of a cigarette box when I ordered it.

It has a little bit of muzzle flip because the brake has no ports on top. But, I have 22LR rifles with more felt recoil.

I have these 69 grain Sierra Match king bullets that will stay supersonic out to 800 yards. I can hit torso size targets that far with that load. But, you can hardly hear the impacts at that distance. Your only chance is to spot the impacts through the scope. The brake makes that follow through pretty easy.

i have 2 sav's 223 and 270win .. and been looking the at one for a while .. even sent them a message on thumb hole one ..

I had a Boyd’s light thumbhole previously. I did have to do a little sanding of the barrel channel to get it properly free-floated.

I’m pretty please. I’m frustrated that the range is closed. I here that Blue Mountain may be open. But, I’m not keen to go anywhere near Westchester ATM and evening 200 yards feels a little claustrophobic with this gun.

Will do, much appreciated. If it were closer to me I'd try to join up but it's more like a nice day trip kinda place (plus my buddy would be coming from LI).
