Basic rule for shooting "fun" stuff with tannerite is nothing between you and the tannerite.

You can safely blow up lawn mowers, refrigerators, other stuff, but do *not* put the tannerite inside anything. If you put it inside anything, then some of the thing will be between the tannerite and you and it might be headed back to you.

Yep, the few steels that I have are AR500, so they hold.up quite well.

One of our younger techs was digging old brake rotors put of the scrap pile the other day tomise for targets. I did want I could to make him understand that irregular surfaces and soft cast iron is a bad idea to use for a target, even just with .22LR.

Brake rotors in my experience tend to shatter not dent. So ricochets aren't likely to be a danger. They'll stay flat until they're a pile of shards.
