We're never going to stop this so long as we continue to criminalize people for having a mental health history when exercising their rights.

Killing yourself is a mental health issue.
Killing your wife and 10 & 12 year old sons makes you an evil piece of shit. But somehow this piece of shit passed all the screenings to be deemed worthy of having more rights than the rest of us.

I'm not disagreeing, but people won't seek help with big-brother looking over their shoulder all the time.
I agree. There is more to the story. It could very well be a mental health issue. Or it could be that he was trying to escape responsibility for something like what happened up here last year - Sheriff: Deputy involved in murder-suicide stole $500K with wife. I will reserve judgement until more info comes out.
I will never condone these kinds of actions. I do understand the mental health issues of some professions. Again, even if he had serious MH issues, I do not condone this at all.

my dad committed suicide .. i heard it all on the scanner that day ..
it was from the pain dealing with diabetes and gout .. and possibility some some meds he was on
and being a stubborn Italian he was .. he didn't want to put a burden on us to help him walk and such being is so much pain ..
his mind was fine .. months prior .. dad gave me a shotgun so the GF i had then can go hunting ..

This 100%. I can tell you for sure I would be nervous as all hell to even think about going to counseling for anything here in NY for fear of the gestapo at my door on a red flag confiscation mission. Id need extra counseling just for the PTSD that would cause, and then id NEVER get my shit back.
