lawmakers from Brooklyn announced two proposed amendments to the package of firearms laws would limit how much ammunition New York residents could buy at a time.


The law would only allow gun owners to purchase twice a gun’s capacity every 90 days
Proponents of the legislation, including state Senator Roxanne Persaud and Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon, say the purpose of the legislation is to prevent terrorists from stockpiling ammunition.

“Limiting the quantity and duration between purchases of ammunition is one step in preventing someone with criminal intent from easily accessing large quantities of ammunition,” Persaud said

S.4363, by Sen. Roxanne Persaud, would create a taxpayer-funded “Firearm Violence Research Institute” to study “gun violence and develop methods of prevention.” California last year adopted a similar program, which has been slammed by gun rights advocates who say the practice allows for unequal access to public data which could be tailored to further a political agenda.

S.5808-A, introduced by Sen. Michael Gianaris, will establish a 10-day waiting period to conduct background checks on gun purchases. The language of the bill also requires firearm dealers to report attempted possibly illegal gun purchases.

S.5829, introduced by Sen. Kevin Parker, would make it a Class D felony to have, make or sell a gun that cannot be picked up by a metal detector. A federal ban on undetectable firearms has been in effect for years.

S.5922, filed by Sen. Jamaal Bailey, will open up the gun industry to lawsuits if they “negligently market firearms to irresponsible buyers.” New York is home to a number of gun makers including Remington and has over 2,300 federal firearms licensees.

S.7133, introduced by Sen. Brian Kavanagh, would establish Extreme Risk Protection Orders which would allow courts to issue an order to seize guns from individuals reported to be at risk to themselves or others.
Kavanagh also debuted S.7072, to add hate crimes to the list of offenses that strip someone of gun rights; as well as S.7605, which would require state officials to check the mental health records of an out-of-state resident during gun permit applications.

This one is pretty serious as it violates an individual's RIGHTS without due proces or a conviction of an actual crime! What next? Someone who "says" something disagreeable or states an opinion somebody perceives as a threat?

Everybody will have to stop shipping to NY first. Then, I suspect F&S in Erie will see a HUGE influx in ammo sales. NYS will have to set up Troopers on I90 at the state line to look for ammo, fireworks, and illicit Chick-Fil-A.

Business in PA would be BOOMING (ha ha) should this ever happen. Luckily I have bought in bulk over the years and I am stocked up for the foreseeable future.

So, I have a question:
What determines the "capacity" of a gun? The size of the magazine? The number of magazines? Or will they say we can buy 2 rounds of ammo per 90 days, since most guns only have one breach?

Vague laws should be immediately rendered null and void, and the ignorant politician that writes them, or signs their name to them, should be censured for a first offense and jailed for a second.
They don't get a third!

Yeah me too, My Great Grandparents and Grandparents lived in the hills on the Georgia / Tennessee Border.
I was born and raised in the hills of South Carolina and my father produced shine up to the early 1990s.
Producing and running corn likker is in my families history. My Grandpa had a popular corn mash recipe and did a lot of business.
I may or may not have delivered product as a teenager... Just Saying.

As not to attract the attention of LE, in the old days and even sometimes these days it's necessary to modify the suspension so the back end doesn't squat down to much under the load of the product. A big load of ammo is,,, whoops I mean a big load of shine is heavy.

Also don't make it easy for LE/DA to help prove any illegal activity in the court by leaving a paper trail of the ammo purchases,,, whoops I meant to say bags of sugar... Cash or trade only!

I hope that it doesn't come to this sort of thing... But anything that happens in NY won't surprise me at this point.
With the New York City Democrats having so much power in Albany one just never knows.

Do terrorists really go to Dicks, Cabella's or any local gun shop to buy ammo? Because the way the process works in my brain is that the terrorists buy crates of ammo illegally from rouge governments and third world country warlords.

Okay, If I have 10 9mm handguns, and they come with 2 magazines when purchased, I can buy 200 rounds, or more, every 90 days.

You see how stupid this idea is? Makes no sense.

What about those who need guns for their jobs? Those that have to qualify every year?

Are these morons going to separate citizens again and give all kinds of exemptions to different types of people?

They put zero thought into their stupid ideas.
