Browning 1911-22 Trigger

Back when Beikirchs was having their closing sale, I bought a used Browning 1911-22. I finally got it out to the range just before Christmas.

Function was good except for one dud (Federal value pack stuff). Solid strike, just didn't light. The sights are rough, old GI style but perfectly functional in decent light. The real killer was the trigger. It was long, creepy with a few different phases, even from reset. It isn't even in the same universe as my M45A1 and, I think, worse than any of our stock striker fired pistols.

Anyone have any good recommendations on improving this trigger?

I'd start by doing a thorough clean & lube. Then shoot a bunch of rounds through it. It might just need to break in.

It's used. I'm pretty sure it's got a bunch of rounds on it already.

So what I found was that it's a fairly common complaint (along with the sights). Most seem to take stones to the hammer but I can't find a sear jig for it (everything is about 85% the size of a typical 1911). I guess I'll call around and try to find a smith that'll work on it. I'd rather not attempt my first trigger job on a gun that, by all reports, even Browning won't supply parts for.

Little update on this. I took it to Kielon Gunsmiths in Webster. $100, 2 weeks and the trigger is vastly improved. Much shorter smoother, lighter and more crisp. He said it measures at around 3lbs now. Maybe a bit pricey and I haven't shot it yet but so far, I'm quite happy.

A $100 for a trigger job is spot on I’d say.

Kielon does great work. He fabricated an extractor for a 788 rifle when I couldn’t get the part.
