Building a 9 mm AR

I am thinking of building a 9 mm AR. Here are the parts I may buy. Your opinions and advice are very much appreciated. Here are the parts from GlockStore.com.

Upper. I will buy 16" to meet the legal requirement.


Lower. I am not sure if the pistol grip with the fin is NY compliant as well. It is CA compliant.


Or I may change the grip to following one.



Magazines. I will choose 10 round Glock factory magazines.

That muzzle device is no go if you are going to have a detachable magazine.

These work great and look better than a thread cap IMO. I have several.

I also think to add an angled foregrip like this. But not sure if it is legal to do it.



For the sight, I am not sure which iron sight I should buy. I would prefer to use both red dot and iron sight. For the red dot, this is the one I plan to get.

Grips grips and more grips . Sorry the grip topic has be exhausted rather extensively here . Slap a Thordsen on it with that barrel extension pin and welded call it a day .
The strikefires are nice I have 2 on carbines now . My most recent build I put a vortex spac AR ll on it . It hits the sweet spot lightweight sleek and compact . Oh and best of all it takes a AAA battery!

The Thordsen is a very good solution. It performs very well in the AR9 scenario. It lacks ambiguity. It is functional and ergonomic as it gets in this state. Fins and hammerheads and blah blah blah... nah. Ymmv. The point is keeping your detachable mags so you have a functional defensive weapon. Why wreck that with anti-ergo solutions of dubious legal providence?

Sorry, it may be discussed to death about grip but it is completely new to me. Thanks for suggesting Thordsen! It sounds like a valid option.

Slap a 9mm upper onto an existing standard AR15 lower, and load up a Endomag with 9mm ammo.

I have gone this route before. I tried the spur and that ridiculous grip thats angled backwards that still protrudes beneath the action pictured above. The ridiculous grip that may not even be legal doesn’t allow you to engage or disengage the safety. It’s too thick.

And that pistol grip with a fin attached is just what it is. A pistol grip with a fin attached.

In the end if you want featureless, the only good options are the Thordsen and the Ruger PC Carbine.
