I am looking for 1 or 2 of these type liquid totes. They need not be food grade, but must be non-hazardous. They may be lightly damaged or leak. Willing to drive a reasonable distance from Buffalo to pick them up. The less expensive, the better - "free" is best. I have one that I could spare but the drive wouldn't be worth it for you. Doubt you will find one for free. Most good ones I see are selling for around $200.

Do you need the container, or just the pallet and cage?

Not sure I would be worth the trip either, but a new IBC tote is ~$600 +SH.

This one is cool if I was buying new.

Just to clarify ; I intend to cut this thing up. I think I could make a very nice weatherproof cover for my generator out of it. I have a plate that screws to the exhaust port on the generator and can add a foot or two of apropriate pipe to it so the exhaust is vented outside of the cover. I will drill a bunch or 2" holes in it to allow fresh air in and whatever else I need to do.

My generator is stored inside the garage unless needed, but when I do need it, I drag it outside and cover it with a table made out of sawhorses and a plastic truck bedliner. With this storm and the winds, There's no way that would work, so I'm looking for something better. My first thought was a kid's playhouse. I may still find one of those somewhere too.

Alternative ideas welcome.

Both Lowes and Home Depot have small sheds ( peked one way ) for under $200.00 they may work for you, also look at rubber made small sheds like you would put thrash cans in.

My first thought was a calf hutch, but they are in the $ 400 neighborhood, so that's out. I want something I can move easily and isn't too expensive. I figure I can find something that will work well and not cost too much.

I thought a 100 gallon stock tank could work, but they seem to be about $150.00+ now. Maybe you could find one used on FB marketplace or Craigslist.

How about a 55 gallon drum cut the long ways in half? Should be sturdy enough and be rounded so that the water runs off.

Aren't drums only 24 - 26" diameter ? I think it would need to be wider than that.

That having been said, if you have a free poly drum, I'll try it.

If i could find 10 free ones, I would put them in certain locations without hesitation. I have a calf hutch that I bought a couple years ago strategically placed on a property. That works great ! However, this really is going to be a weatherproof cover for those times the generator is being used.

I don’t have one sitting around but I thought it might work and they are much more plentiful than the bulk totes. Even if you had to silicone and screw a rubber flange on to get an extra couple inches or something. I’ll bet you could make it work.

Potentially nasty, but should rinse out pretty well and not leave any residue.

Also, since you plan on cutting it open it should be pretty easy to hit the inside with a good pressure washing just to be sure.
