Bushy Tailed Tree Rats

...are a problem. They keep raiding my bird feeders. If I could I'd plug them with my .22 but the neighbor's house is on the other side of the feeders and they're far too close.

So I'm looking for a BB gun or similar. Not looking to kill the squirrels, just hurt them enough to drive them off. Needs to be accurate.

Any suggestions?

How are your feeders set up there's other methods of keeping those rats under control and get some entertainment at the same time

I've got a walnut tree in the middle of my back yard.It attracted so many skwerls,then my dogs seemed to have run them all off.All was good til last year late summer/early fall,the rats were back,driving my dogs nuts.Got a Gamo bb rifle at Wally world for 99 bucks,with a scope.I cant tell you how many I killed,mostly those small red "ground" skwerls.

Kill them or trap them. If you choose kill them it should be as immediate as possible or your neighbors might find out and call the police.

Well if you are really serious about it.....

Be aware that there is a season for killing them,and its not thru the spring and summer,if anyone sees you and calls it in,you could have problems.The red skwerls are fair game all year.

Getting ride of them is short lived, the neighbors will move right in.

with Squirrel season over with ( grays ) your best bet is to lay out some food in a line to the frying pan .. officer he just committed suicide , not my falut ..

2nd if your in a village .. you might not be allowed to even shoot a bb gun in your yard .. even at pop cans .,. you need to check on that

Grey or black squirrels can be taken at any time if they are damaging property. Only thing is they must be buried or cremated immediately

Mix red pepper in with the seed, birds don't mind it and squirrels hate it.

Thanks for the replies. I had no idea there was a grey squirrel season. Could always blame the neighbors cat or better yet the bobcat that patrols the woods behind the house.
