Buying of AR between Active LEO's Question

Hello everyone,

One active LEO is interested in purchasing an AR-15 from another active LEO. They called me to inquire on what's the process in which I told him, "In my opinion, the way I can understand the law, it states that if you are active, you can just sell it to him because he's active as well."

As you can see I told him it was my opinion on the way I am interpreting the law, but that I could find out to inform him better. So here I am, anybody can give me a hand? I would appreciated it.

Also just to add, that I haven't updated my post of "AR in Westchester" because I haven't had the time to do, but I still have in mind to post an update when I get to the permit's office to show them the lower with the mag locked.

Got it, that part is understandable. What about the registration process. He explained to me that he has the AR way before the Safe Act and never registered because he understood that "as long as you are active, you don't have to"

Don’t have to register. But that may come back to haunt us after retirement unless something changes.

That's the gray area I thought about, There is a part in the law that says that if he was something along the of lines of "trained" or "certified" to use in the job, he would be fine. But that's the tricky part.

So, Sell him the upper face to face, and the lower at an FFL

That way the FFL doesn't have to worry about getting involved in anything, and you know you're covered. A lower can't be an AW until it's got an upper attached.

That previous post was in regards for when he retires. Althought that's another option he can do when selling it to the other LEO. Thanks

All are.

Its pretty much just a mag release button that has a threaded hole on one end to use a set screw ( grub screw) to prevent the button from moving and releasing the magazine.
