David Atkins is the regional director the California Democratic Party. And judging from this thread, he’s really got his finger on the pulse of America:

They are heavily subsidized, drowning in federal largesse, blessed with political affirmative action & overrepresentation, have all their bills paid by cities and blue states, but they whine and yell constantly.

Don't get me wrong: I'm all about reaching out & showing rural white America that it's the plutocrats that are hurting them, not people of color. Rural white America really is hurting.

I don't see why city people think that they are so much smarter than rural people... I just don't see it.
I will use myself as an example but most of the people that live around me in farm country are similar.

I am fully capable of growing and or hunting my own food... Are they?

Know how to have a constant unending supply of safe drinking water... Do they?

Knowledge and the capability of providing my own heat during the the winter... Do they?

Knowledge of firearms and how to effectively use and maintain them... Do they?

Knowledge of how to effectively provide for my own security... Do they?

Knowledge of how to keep my "house" in good repair... I do my own electrical, plumbing, roofing, carpentry, etc.

Knowledge of how to repair my own generator, chainsaws, or any other small engine related thing that is useful... etc.

Knowledge of how to repair my own vehicles from front to back, top to bottom. Now to be fair I have worked in auto repair shops most of my life but the other people around me are pretty damn good "do it your selfer's" themselves.

Knowledge of how not to be a sheep and led around by the nose by a bunch of political and MSN morons... Do they?

Knowledge of how to be a individual, and use my critical thinking skills... Do they?

Knowledge of how not to let my "feelings" dictate my decisions... Do they?

And so much more... But you all get the point by now.

This isn't a humble brag thread, as a lot of people that live in the area that I do (rural farm country) have the same skills.



Can the city people say the same thing? ... Why do they think that they are so much smarter than rural people... I don't see it.

No wonder the city people want more government control and rural people do not.
The city people "in general" are not capable of thinking for themselves or doing much for themselves from my perspective.

I didn't mean to paint with a broad brush if that's how this post is coming across... I am talking in generalities.
So anyone on this forum that lives in a city need not get all offended.

Yeah sure there are some real dumb fucks in the sticks. Ya know the stupid hick stereotype thing.
But the same thing can be said about the cities. Both places have their percentage of dummies. But the city people choose to think that ALL of the country folk are knuckle dragging toothless morons. That's just not the case by any stretch of the imagination.
I suppose some city people need to look down their nose at somebody else to feel good about themselves.

I find it kind of strange that some people that rent apartments (city people) look down on rural people that live in trailer parks.
The apartment renter does not and will never OWN that roof over their head... They have to do as the landlord says,,, In many cases, no pets, no smoking, need permission from the landlord to make any changes, plus the apartment renter has other people living right on the other side of the wall. Talk about your neighbors being way, way, way, to close.

Now in contrast, the person who lives in a mobile home owns that roof over their head. It is theirs to do as they want.
I have been in some really nice mobile homes. I think that some people that do not know any better would be surprised at how nice a mobile home can be. But of course there is the other side of the coin too. But even in that case at least they OWN it.

I am getting off topic yet again so I will end with this thought. I like the quite country life myself. I could not imagine not having my own property, my own yard, my own vehicles, (public transportation, yeah fuck that) Having a sidewalk in my front yard (a human highway) running right across my front yard sounds so horrible to me. Having to pay money to drive across a bridge or through a tunnel doesn't seem right to me.

But different strokes for different folks I suppose.

I don't know much about city people, but I do know that most of them vote for the socialist Democrats and that's pretty much tells me all I need to know... And the rural people are the stupid ones? ... Yeah, get out of here with that shit.

I am a country redneck with only a 9th grade education but yet I make 80 to 90 grand a year.
And have owned my own house / property since my early 20's... So much for higher education, college debt and book smarts.
Not that that's a bad thing but it isn't a be all end all type of thing.

I also have all of my teeth, I do not have a beer belly, and my knuckles do not drag on the ground if I stand up straight.

EDIT - In this post I am referring to large metropolitan cities.
Not the smaller ones like the one near where I live (Batavia) population of 16,000.
I think of them as more of a really, really big town and some of the stuff that I mentioned above
