Cabin work...

So been spending some time on some summer cabins...

Was supposed to paint said somethings up when the exterior wall was moving with a gentle tap lol...

Pulled off the t1-11 siding to expose rotten sheathing. Reframed, insulated, sheathed, wrapped, resided and primed...

I hate T111. I had the same issue with my garage. I ended up wrapping it and siding it.
good work and at least the weathers good for you.

I think T111 is pretty much termite food. I haven't seen any place yet that had it and didn't have rot/insect issues

Soffits past few days... of course had to be hottest days of year. Had lots of fun cutting the 2x6 joists that hung below fascia I sistered them up with 2x4s mainly because most of the joists didn't actually reach the fascia to begin with.





Side had to be torn off completely as fascia was pretty much rotted. Reframed most of it with 2x3s just easier than trying to work with what was there...



Have to pick up some new drip edge... will install the new stuff with the drip edge actually on the outside of the fascia lol.

Hopefully painting next week...

Closed in under cabin... this is where I picked up the poison ivy.... even after throwing a tarp over most of it... ugh!



Used t1-11 at owner's request he doesn't like the look of lattice and understands it will require maintenance.



Tore out and repaired part of curb that had lifted. Tied the new one into footings with rebar hopefully will stay put...

Not actually sure if it was frost heave or not... there is a giant tree right across the pathway and I'm thinking it could have been a root...

I agree. It is probably one of the worse products in the entire world. Not sure why people keep using it.

Ha! Between unexpected problems, the crap weather, truck, poison ivy, covid and back issues this must be the world's longest "small" project lol. Finally see light at end of tunnel need to finish some caulking (ran out today grrrrr!!! $%&@%#!**) and filling in some nail/screw holes and paint it! Actually coming out really nice despite nearly killing me both mentally and financially lol...





Just in time too I've got another one to work on that should have been started a month ago... at least the weather's finally nice!

Its been a rough road for you this summer trying to paint 3 cabins with rain every other day,.And then add in gall bladders, covid and poison ivy,talk about Murphy's law, jeez.I do hope you are kidding about killing you financially,I know there have been a lot of unexpected problems, there always is when you start opening things up with these cabins,But you shouldnt be eating any costs.My bil just redid the cabin on the end and is well aware of the hidden problems and has no problem paying any extras.
Again,anybody needing work done, you cant go wrong with Chris,his work is excellent, fair prices, and has the best attitude of any contractor I've ever met, but you're gonna have to wait,as the next cabin he's got lined up is gonna have him shaking his head,its a big job and that cabin was a mess before the tree fell on it.

Done! Well have a few minor touch-ups but as done as much as Covid is survivable for vast majority of the population lol. Took much longer than expected but came out nice at end of the day...
