Same goes for the $0.50¢ per gallon tax you pay here in NY. $0.25¢ of that enacted post 9-11 to help pay for heightened security in NYS. Something schmuck Schumer said some years back when it came up for expiration, that "why do away with something everyone is used to paying?"
Once taken, power and $ is never returned! There's a reason real wages hasn't increased since the 80's... And won't now either even if minimum wage is increased to $17 per hr...
