So I always hear that militia groups in ny are illegal, but what actual actions are illegal in ny?
is just calling yourself a malitia group illegal? having weapons and training with them?
if two friends from Jersey who are in the same militia come and walk into ny are they criminals?

NY law is easy.

1. Is it something you're generally supposed to be able to do (freedom of speech, association, and to bear arms in this instance, amongst others)?

2. You can't.

3. Unless you are exempted somehow. Typically by way of licensing or by being an agent of the State. Mostly the latter.

4. Go directly to jail. Or your accountant and lawyer if you are wealthy and/or politically connected.
