Apparently I am too stupid to understand why the Micro Roni Stab is legal in NY. I understand it is an accessory. I understand it is a pistol brace. What I don't understand is you can now use the foregrip and the barrel shroud with it and I thought that wasn't allowed in NY? I even understand with my AR15 pistol since it's a fixed mag then the "assault" definition doesnt apply...so what am I missing with the Micro Roni Stab???

Nothing is legal if you call NYPD.....not even my pistol permit is legal to them

By itself it's legal. When attached to your Glock, together they both become an AW.
The shroud is a questionable feature. I don't think it is a shroud but it does work like one and a DA can argue to a jury that it is. It has a second hand grip though. That is one banned feature and there is no disputing that it has no 2nd hand grip built in to it.
22. "Assault weapon" means
(c) a semiautomatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following characteristics:
(i) a folding or telescoping stock;
(ii) a thumbhole stock;
(iii) a second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand;
(iv) capacity to accept an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;

(vi) a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being burned;

That's all fine and dandy but it's a stabilizer brace so you can't grip the "second grip / fore grip" when it's stabilized.
The NFA said that the Roni Stabilizer is legal even if you shoulder it. Locally I'm sure Dickblowsio and his cronies would say it's illegal but I use mine at the range all the time with no questions.
I'm even thinking of buying the Roni Carbine conversion kit which is not an NFA item since Roni provides you with a 16" barrel for your Glock 17. You can also put that extended barrel in a 22 and 31
What does this mean? Clearly you can grip the foregrip with your non shooting hand when you are using the stabilizer so not sure what you mean??
Not with it feeling completely awkward. I don't use the stabilizer in that manner but it definitely seems that having it on and trying to grip your second hand around the foregrip would make your aiming arm and hand which the brace is on to have a break and bend in it.

There is no awkwardness in the law. I either has a second grip or it doesn't. That's not how laws work.

And using it at a range without no one saying anything is also not a method of determining legality. Prior to the Unsafe Act, I saw quite a few people using the Magpul UBR. I knew the argument they were using that it doesn't telescope. We all just minded our own business.

Not sure about the roni. Is it really a forward grip or is it an angled “grip”(like what magpul makes). If it is the angled piece that is not a grip per the ATF. I bet the angled grip does not hinge into a traditional fwd grip.

I’ve noticed they now have a macro micro or whatever roni for the G20 , which has me rather intrigued. They also have a kit for the M&P .
It does not make it an NFA item because it has a forward grip. The stabilizer version is not considered NFA, the one with the standard stock is NFA because it makes it an SBR.
As quoted on the CAA website:

A forward grip in a pistol makes it an NFA weapon. (An angled grip is not considered a forward grip)

With the stock it is a SBR ($200 stamp)

My guess is that would be a thumbhole stock. Kinda like the Beretta Storm.

Not a stock. It's an arm stabilizing brace. It wasn't designed to be shouldered.
According to their website it does not require an NFA tax stamp. It is a carbine conversion kit and comes with a 16" barrel replacement for the Glock 17 9x19.
