Can we talk "Red Flag laws"

or, as I like to call them "Random Confiscation orders"

These ERPO are nothing more than a way for the governemt to take your property without due process. The law says that after a predeterminded amount of time the police must give the firearms back to the original owner. But we know that will never happen.

Lets say the police show up at your door. They are there to remove your firearms and all associated material because someone, you have no idea who, complained that you are a danger to society

At no time will you be notified of who made the complaint or why the complaint was made.

Convince me that it's NOT the governement (specifically, the NYSP) that is making any and all complaints to have lawful firearms removed from society. Now your significant investment has been confisacted without compensation.

Am i being paranoid in thinking these Red Flag laws are just an easy way for the government to circumvent the Constitution

It's history repeating itself. Through the illusion of alleged democracy in NY some of us have been marginalized and Andy clearly stated that "we have no place in his socialist NY". Some people missed the memo.

Paranoid? No. That’s the intent. They play on fear to sell this laws to the public in terms of public safety. But the intent is clearly disarmament.
Question is what are we going to do about it?
I think they realized that there are a lot of people out there that will go awol if confiscation orders are ever given. They will band up and resist.
These laws circumvent that. They are much more insidious. They are a “standing low priority” confiscation of sorts. They will work because they are not always active confiscation but can be easily activated. We cannot be grouped up 24/7. Should one be activated against you randomly and you choose to resist its you against multiple cops. Good luck. Better yet toss in some SWAT if govt feels particularly threatened by you.
Our strength is in our numbers. These laws are the perfect workaround

This is why I always say not to have everything nice and tidy in that one tall safe in your bedroom but everyone always laughs at me.

That safe should only contain a Ruger 10/22, your registered pistols and that it. Your battle rifle and everything else should be in your floorboards, walls, attic, backyard, ect.

Who laughs at that idea?

It's a pretty well established idea for many. You might want to add some ammo in the safe for the bait rifle though because they're not going to buy it completely and wonder where the rest of your supplies/ammo are for it. Also, the guy that's opening up your safe might not be a "professional locksmith".

Whoever's opening it up will probably end up using an angle grinder or some shit that will spark up pretty good. Probably will scorch the walls and burn the carpet; a deliberate action too because apparently "you're being a smartass sir", by not assisting them in stealing your property... Oh I mean 'confiscate', that sounds less harsh. You'll probably be put in handcuffs as well for "interfering or impeding with their investigation" too.

The damage to the walls, closet doors, and carpet now will set you back your entire security deposit, or you'll need to make your own home repairs now. Don't forget the two holes in the wall either, when they tried forcing the door back, it came open quickly.. Oops! Hopefully they don't brings dogs either for those hidden guns.

Anyways, you should be nice because they're just doing their job bro!

The other downside most people don’t think about is silencing the gun crowd.
Will you argue gun rights with a liberal? Not a good idea.
Will you wear your progun shirt? Maybe, maybe not.
Will you have those progun bumper stickers? What if you flip some one off while driving? I think it will get to this. I know my one sons friends mother is an absolute looney and hates guns. I’ll never tell her that her son did anything wrong or argue with her again when this law is passed. Yes I said when because to me it’s not an if.
