My dad, circa 1950. East coast, mobile big ass costal shore battery. During Korea his unit moved up and down the Atlantic coast prepared to engage wherever.
Can you help identify this cartridge?

In other photos the artillery piece can go complete vertical which suggests it could be used as anti-aircraft or surface to surface when horizontal.

I saw the title of this thread and, before opening it, went over to the bookcase to pull my 12th and 16th editions of Cartridges of the World; which have quite often solved various cartridge mysteries for rifles, handguns, and shotguns .. but I'm pretty sure that's not in there.

He was the NCO in charge of the gun. Couple of other pictures showed 6 guns in the battery.

Note the piece is dismounted from the wheels. Apparently they were towed behind a duce in a convoy of cannons and ammunition.

He kept 3 boys and daughters in line.
Possibly 90mm cannon? Looks like combined weight case, shell, charge, tracer and propellant in mid 50 lb range... just guessing here.

It’s a shame more inst documented by families. I have nothing. The only thing in this life my grandma didn’t save were the letters my gramps wrote her from Korean War. You want the first gas bill from 30 years ago that was $0.12? She’s got it. How about a good housekeeping magazine from the 70’s? Yep she’s got them all. She refuses to write the history of the family down as well.
