Canadian Trucker Freedom Convoy Is Likely the World’s Largest Vehicle Convoy in History​

The Canadian ‘Freedom Convoy’ of truckers, pushing back against COVID mandates, forced vaccinations and government regulations, began late last week and has gained incredible support from the public. It is very challenging to put the scale of this grassroots effort into an adequate context.

The fundraiser for the effort now exceeds $5.5 million dollars and still climbing. It is now estimated that over 50,000 vehicles are participating in the convoy effort, and the Canadian Dept of Transportation is doing everything possible to stop, block and impede the assemblies.
Every federal truck stop and DOT weigh station has been opened, and every truck is being required to go through the DOT checks. This is not accidental. The movement has now evolved into a conflict of the average Canadian, represented by the truckers, -vs- the oppressive government, represented by the activated federal agencies of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. It really has become an incredible example of THE PEOPLE -vs- GOVERNMENT.

The truck convoys started from British Columbia in the west, Newfoundland in the east, and Windsor, Ontario in the south. However, cars, SUVs, vans, and small commercial trucks are now included in the massive convoy lines and joined with the big rigs. On every highway along the way crowds are cheering and waving support for the Truckers.

Aerial views show some of the context for how massive these convoys are that are converging on Ottawa January 29th. It is widely estimated, “If it gets there on time — and if the convoy holds together as it has in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan — it could be 10 times larger than the world record,” for the longest convoy in history.

I don't see any problems with this. This is what the .gov wanted, and this is what they are getting. We need more people standing ground and slowing things down.

For what it's worth, slowing things down is a good thing in some aspects. It makes people think harder and think twice.

Am I going to be happy when I can't get my fresh bananas? Yes. Why? Because those people that bring those bananas to the grocery store are standing for what is right. People's rights and freedoms are more important than my stupid bananas!

A few months ago the CBSA (Canadian Border Services Agency) had been working without a contract for a couple years. After negotiations broke down, the CBSA initiated a Work to Rule slowdown. Within a couple short hours of this beginning, the Peace Bridge in Buffalo was paralyzed with commercial vehicles. Waiting times quickly reached 12 hours and longer. Trucks headed to Canada were bumper to bumper all the way across the bridge, filled the Peace Bridge plaza, and stretched for miles on I-190 approaching the Peace Bridge exit. Niagara Street and other surface routes near the bridge were also packed with trucks that had nowhere to go. Less than a full day of this action had taken place before the Canadian Government decided they had to solve the issue. After more than 3 years of working without a contract, the CBSA reached an agreement with the Canadian Gov't. in a matter of hours.

For those that do not know, most of the workers in Canada are unionized.

This action just shows what can be accomplished when pushed too far. Many Canadian citizens believe that mandatory vaccinations, vaccine passports ( which some provinces including Ontario and Quebec already have ), mandatory quarrentines and other Covid measures are "too far". Last week, the Ontario government admitted that last year they tracked the location of virtually EVERY cell phone in the province without a single warrant, and with no notification to the people. They did this so they could verify that people that had been ordered to quaranteen were doing so.

Federal officials have stated that they have the intention to make Covid vaccinations mandatory for every Canadian citizen. [ Personally, I find that laughable. The Inuet tribes are so remote that getting a vaccination to them would prove nearly impossible, and it is almost a guarantee that the agent assigned to this would never be heard from again. ]

Although I am no longer allowed to enter Canada, I applaud them for standing up to their government - something Americans no longer have the will to do.
